Finally, our chemical photobooth paper order is on the way. It has been nearly 18 months in the works, so hopefully, now just a few more weeks to go! We will now be paper distributors!

This is a liver with NET mets removed for transplant. You think this liver looks bad? Well, mine is worse with a few more bigger ones. The much promised medical update is here… So you ask, what is going on? This is the short SHORT watered down version: Well, a few weeks after my visit with Dr. Shafir, I canceled my surgery at Mount. Sinai. After some consideration, I decided to seek further opinion from other surgeons. Something about the surgery in NYC didn’t sit well with me. It seemed like a wet band-aid that would just slip right off. I’d have to go through a serious surgery only to have a bunch of cancer still left in my liver (alive and dead crap floating around like space junk). Yes, at first, I was ready to rock and roll and thought the NYC surgery was the absolute best course. As it turns out, I’m still learning. And one thing I’ve learned along the way is that my disease is much worse than I let myself believe. My liver is a mess and it’s not going to get any better from a l

Second Chance Antiques: Omaha

Image
After the hospital visit we made it out to hit some more local shops. The prices are good in Omaha, but the show we went to later in the evening was very over priced... Nevertheless we are now headed back to Chicago to consider the next step: liver transplant or a crack at radical staged resection... There's a very good chance that if we go in for resection we may have to abort the operation if more tumors are present then what we see on the scans. The chances of this are good. We would however still be able to look for the primary. Prognosis with the burden of liver disease that I have is not great. If I do nothing, I'm lucky to live another 5 to 10 years (getting sicker). Resection or transplant would get me much more time, assuming nothing goes wrong with the operations. I'm sleeping on it and will really try to post a more detailed report later.

Well... If I'm going to get a new liver....

I might as well have drink! We are enjoying a MUCH needed micro brew in the old Market district after our meeting with Dr. Botha. The consult was good but options not. The staged resection is iffy at best and a transplant now a very real option. The choice is up to me on a direction to proceed... We can try staged resection, but it might be a bust... So, sleeping on it for a few days... I'll have more details later. For now, Andrea and I are going to enjoy our time here in Omaha. There is a great antiques expo just over the boarder in IA and the Hilton has a hot tub... So... Time to think about some other things to clear the brain. My liver is a piece of shit....

Off to Omaha

We are on our way to see Dr. Botha at UNMC's NET clinic and transplant center. Yet another journey...

This must be the place...

I just watched Lars & the Real Girl and it's my new my new favorite movie... There was also one of my favorite tracks from the the Talking Heads: Home is where I want to be Pick me up and turn me round I feel numb - burn with a weak heart (so I) guess I must be having fun The less we say about it the better Make it up as we go along Feet on the ground Head in the sky It's ok I know nothing's wrong . . nothing Hi yo I got plenty of time Hi yo you got light in your eyes And you're standing here beside me I love the passing of time Never for money Always for love Cover up + say goodnight . . . say goodnight Home - is where I want to be But I guess I'm already there I come home - -she lifted up her wings Guess that this must be the place I can't tell one from another Did I find you, or you find me?  There was a time before we were born If someone asks, this where I'll be . . . where I'll be Hi yo we drift in and out Hi yo sing into my mouth Out of all to

The trip is over...

After 4 grueling days of driving, a lack of sleep, pouring rain and extreame physical labor we (and the photobooths) are in Chicago. We did a marathon drive from Savannah last night and made it back in 20 hours. The drive was only half the battle because then, we had to unload them all this morning. They're jam packed into our facility, but there is an actual method to the placement. There are 12 booths in storage, with 3 more back in the shop. The current grand total in our inventory is now 24 machines. The next step is a little TLC and to identify new homes for these kids. (in the photo... There is another row right behind the one on the left). And so, after a week of insanity, you would think there might be some relaxation. Well, not really... We booked a last minute job for Saturday and we are just wrapping up a digital booth construction for our UK client. And of course, I need to organize the shop, among other things. Next week, back to dealing with Cancer on a trip to Omaha.

Protecting the booths...

Image
We loaded 8 photobooths on to the truck today in the pouring rain... after a rough ride (9000 pounds), we made it from Atlanta to Savannah unscathed. Now, we're protecting the booths until the next move... Currently shacked up at RTO's hideout...

It's a cruel world we live in...

Basically, if you are going for sauce value, i.e. nugget to free sauce ratio, order five 4-pieces and get 10 free sauces. More nuggets per box does not yield more sauces. Do the math...we have cracked the code!

I felt like crap the last two days but worked through it. Stabbing pain in the stomach that made it impossible to sleep. I saw Dr. Benson who said it's not the gallbladder, gas, ulcer, etc. Hr thinks it's from the liver tumors going through necrosis and bleeding. I'm skeptical about that, but whatever it was, it hurt like hell. This has happened a few time before. Feeling better though now...
