Much Better

SO... I hate to dissapoint you, but I've used up all the nasty photos. I'm sure you will stop reading the blog now. I'm happy not to have any, but it dosen't mean we aren't still dealing with some gross stuff. The good news is that Anthony is doing much much better today. He got up at 6, took a shower (first time in a week), went for a walk, had breakfast and was online checking emails by 9. He then went for 5 more walks by noon and was totally with it mentally. It was great to see him like that. He's almost back to normal. Dr. Botha says he will likely be out of here on Friday if there are no set backs. Anthony gets tired easily, and is still having abdominal pain, but is nowhere near in as much pain as the last couple days.

He still needs a lot of help moving around though. He's tied up to the IV bag, and a number of other draining bag things that make it really difficult to do regular things like, sit up, walk, and lay down. They took out one of the abdominal drains today... it looked like a clear plastic hand grenade filled with blood. It was coming from his abdomen and drained any excess fluid. He now has an open hole in the abdomen, and I was so grossed out to learn that he now has something he's calling a "leaky towel". Oh god. He still has another one on the other side, so that will be something fun to look forward to tomorrow. It's not really phasing either one of us because we've been here a whole week as of tomorrow AM. Anthony informed me that it's rather freeing to walk around half naked in a hospital gown.

Ant was feeling better during the day sitting in a chair, so I was happy to take over the hospital bed and nap. The hospital staff keeps coming in our room and getting confused because there's a woman in the bed.

Our friend John stopped by today for a visit as did Alicia and Tina. They all have carcinoid, and were so kind to offer their support. John and his daughter, Leigh invited me out for dinner tonight, which was a welcome escape from hospital food. I'm starting to get a bit slap happy in this place. I did discover a beautiful roof top garden on the 3rd floor of the hospital today, though. It was sunny, 70 degrees and beautiful outside so I was extatic to get some sunshine. Right now, Anthony and I are just waiting it out, and looking forward to him feeling better.

More good news tomorrow. I promise.
